Both Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers head into tomorrows Championship encounter off the back of taking Premier League scalps in midweek. Rovers returned from Leicester City with a deserved 2-1 success, while United put Tottenham to the sword at Bramall Lane.

Confidence in both camps will understandably be high following their cup exploits, with a lot riding on this fixture. Victory forthe Bladeswould see tomorrows hosts dealt a huge blow in their hopes of catching Paul Heckingbottoms men, while three points for Rovers and its game on in the race for second.

Both sides are in great form, too. United have lost just two in 17 in all competitions, while Rovers are 10 without loss. The game also gets under way at 12:30pm, meaning forHeckingbottomand his coaching staff its going to be a short turnaround.

While Wednesday night took a lot out of those players physically, one thing Heckingbottom is aware of is how much his players exerted mentally, too.

Given Blackburns efforts on Tuesday night, Jon Dahl Tomasson is also likely to be facing the same. Both managers will be wanting to avoid that after the Lord Mayors show feeling.

There wont be much Heckingbottom will have been able to do on the training pitch, his emphasis has been on making sure his players focus is quickly back on the promotion challenge and those players likely to remain in the starting XI are fresh enough mentally to go again.

I think thats important because physically it takes a lot out of you, but emotionally it does as well, he explained. A good thing is that we also have a lot of players who didnt exert that emotion as well.

Regardless if we make a couple of changes on Saturday we are bringing people in who havent suffered that, but we will also have players out there who have and thats going to be really important.

There is nothing much physically they can do between now and Saturday morning. Its a case of getting information into them and that focus, making sure everyone is level and calm.

Its going to be a tough game. We know they have good players and a really good attacking threat.

They have won almost as many games as us in the Championship. When we speak about the Championship I am always giving you the usual lines but they are a great example of that. They were up near the top and everyone wrote them off, saying they are finished, now they are back fourth and everyone is talking about them again.

Thats the Championship it happens all the time. They have good players and can score goals.

We are going to have to be good without the ball and if we are as brave and composed with the ball like we were against Tottenham then we should cause them problems as well.
